Reading some intelligence on safety in a certain latin american country…Check this out…

“Before providing your destination attempt to see if the cabbie has a cell phone on the front seat and that it is off. Some dishonest cabbies leave the cell phone on so that an accomnplice can overhear the destination and then await you there for a robbery.

“When entering the cab check to make sure the interior door exit latch is present. These are often removed so that a passenger cannot escape during a robbery.”

I always make sure i sit in the front seat of a cab in latin america - that way if the guy tries to stop the car i can beat the [crap] out of him. And, i can always see his hands.

[Jon, ] I know you saw a seedy side, but the DR is by far the safest country in latin america.
Santo Domingo is considered the least criminalized capital in the region.

Now i’m not sure if I should tip more or less…
